The career guidance day was organized at Goris State Agricultural College
The event started with the welcoming speeches from the director of Goris State Agricultural College Mrs. Nune Avetisyan, who briefly introduced the history of the college and its current activities. Mainly the professions of “Veterinary” and “Milk and Dairy Technology” have been introduced as well as the current opportunities to study these professions. The director stressed the fact that the College has laboratories for each profession. The director of ANAU Sisian branch Mr. Tigran Vandunts also welcomed the youngsters and encouraged them to apply to study the professions in their educational institution underlining the fact that ANAU Sisian branch has received the license for implementing vocational education in both professions. Then the youngsters were welcomed by the head of State Employment Agency of Goris region Mr. M. Minasyan and by the employers representing the professions of veterinary and milk technology, who encouraged the youngsters to make a right choice on their career path by underlining the need and importance of both professions in their community and in Syunik marz as a whole.
In the end the “Vet development in Syunik marz” project manager Ms. Lilit Hovhannisyan summarized the official part of the event once again encouraging the youngsters to choose one of the professions.
During the second part of the event the youngsters in 4 groups were given the opportunity to visit the open classes during which the employers and specialists of both professions talked about the advantages of their professions and their own experience as well as the milk and veterinary laboratories. In the milk laboratory the youngsters were introduced to different processes of milk processing also they had a chance to see the process of cheese making, while in the veterinary laboratory the youngsters had an opportunity to watch the film which was made during the practice the students had at Syunik Animal Market as well as were introduced to different instruments and devices that are used at the laboratory. The youngsters had also opportunity to ask questions to the specialists and discover the possibilities that the professions could entail.
After the open classes an expo and tasting was organized during which the students of Goris State Agricultural College introduced the products made by themselves in the laboratory during the Milk and Dairy Technology classes. Several types of cheese and dairy products were exposed and the students also explained how they made these products. The expo was very interesting and it also served as a boosting tool for the youngsters to choose the profession.
After the expo the participants of the event had also opportunity to visit the Syunik Animal Market.
Overall the event was very useful as it helped the youngsters to realize the importance and benefits of agricultural professions as well as motivated them to choose one of the professions for their future education.
